Hidden City Philadelphia, since its inception in 2005, has developed a rich network of relationships and body of work exploring how creative artists and ideas can inspire us to new understanding of our heritage and new uses for our city’s buildings and places.

The first Hidden City Philadelphia festival that took place in spring 2009 has led to continued work with the places and communities where we developed relationships and projects. A series of distinct Community Services have emerged from these efforts.

  •  For our Community Projects we work with the places and leaders we’ve gotten to know through our festival on the development of sustainable projects that address the needs and goals of their communities.
  • Through our Planning & Visioning we facilitate visioning and other planning processes for sites and their stakeholders, as well as for artists and organizations interested in working with historical sites.
  •  Our support of Location Scouting and Research & Image Requests helps the scholars and artists engage with Philadelphia’s lesser-known heritage sites, their people and their stories.
