Dereck Johnson! As Instagrammer @seasaleo_21, Dereck has visited a number of Festival sites, and the image above, of the side entrance to John Grass Woodturning Company, takes this week’s trophy in the #igers_philly_hiddencity contest. Two of the judges (consisting of the editors and moderators of the Hidden City Daily and @igers_philly Instagram account) selected this as their #1 choice, and the one below, a “creepy little corner of the shop,” also received votes.

@nipseyrussell came in a very close second with his endearing and a little hilarious photos of his kids, at Fort Mifflin and at Hawthorne Hall. “WTF, Daddy!” in particular received multiple votes.

Also taking in multiple votes was @emilymanaloruiz for her squatters shack/airplane juxtaposition at Fort Mifflin, a popular muse in the marsh. She definitely earned herself a few extra style points for the moody skies.

Charting twice with selections from the Dufala Brothers’ Oil & Water installation at Globe Dye was @ljdurfolino. And rounding out this week’s voting were two visions of Germantown City Hall, @rokojoe‘s take on the rotunda, and @fedexrich‘s random find of a sketch from inside one of the community rooms.

A round of applause to all the winners, runners up, and participants. There’s one more weekend of #igers_philly_hiddencity contest action, so get in while you can. The grand prize winner, announced next week, will win the grand prize of a membership to Hidden City Philadelphia (which incurs discounts to our tours and lectures and admission to members only events—think of them as mini-Hidden City Festivals), a t-shirt, and a hardhat. To plan your visits to the Festival this weekend—the final weekend!—check the calendar HERE, and buy your pass in advance HERE.
Second place!?!?! One would have thought the endearing qualities of my kids would have made me number one with a bullet. In any event, congratulations, Dereck, i was looking at your photos, and you have a lot of very cool ones that everyone should check out, too.
