South Street Bridge: hopeful additions

Crews from the Streets Departments are painting the South Street Bridge bike lanes green (using the same kind of paint that is also being used in New York, Boston, and Baltimore). They’re also–finally–installing LED light panels on the “towers.” Work will be complete by the end of the month.

About the author

Rachel Hildebrandt, a student at the University of Pennsylvania, is a native Philadelphian who is passionate about the ever-changing city she inhabits. Before beginning her graduate studies in historic preservation planning, Rachel obtained a B.A. in Psychology from Chestnut Hill College and co-authored two books, The Philadelphia Area Architecture of Horace Trumbauer (2009) and Oak Lane, Olney, and Logan (2011), both published by Arcadia Publishing.

    Considering that this is a MAJOR thoroughfare by motorists and cyclists once again, this is great news for all. Good story/info!
