- PlanPhilly reports that the historical commission has approved some recently proposed projects such as a permanent home for Live Arts on the riverfront, and the apartment building at 40th & Pine.
- The Business Journal noted Friday that a 168 room Marriot Hotel will be constructed at the Navy Yard. It is currently being designed by Erdy McHenry and is expected to be ready to host guests sometime in 2013.
- Assuming that Occupy Philly disbands by the start of next year, Dilworth Plaza is still set to be re-interpreted as a civic space. Currently, an exhibition, running through November 18 in Room 116 of City Hall, features design components of the undertaking. On this Friday, October 21, 2011, a lecture will be held there.

- This Wednesday, October 19, the Tacony Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia will host a roundtable discussion on the city’s legacy as “workshop of the world.” Doors open at 6PM, while the discussion will run from 6:30PM to 8PM.
